Overview
Harris County Emergency Services District Number 9 (HCESD9) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas serving the Cy-Fair area as a taxing district to support emergency services, such as fire suppression and ambulance services (EMS). Established in 1984, the District is governed by a board of five commissioners who are elected for 4-year terms. They must be residents or property owners in the District. HCESD9 is funded by property taxes, which are based on appraisals of real and personal property such as single-family residential, multi-family residential, commercial and raw land, as well as Sales Tax. The District merged with the service provider, Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department on January, 1, 2020, and operates as Cy-Fair Fire Department to continue to provide Fire and EMS services to Cy-Fair community.
